REDUCED IGNITION PROPENSITY CIGARETTES

Effective May 1, 2010, new legislation in Ohio requires that all cigarettes sold or offered for sale, be tested in accordance with the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) standard E2187-04, and meet the reduced ignition propensity standards set forth Ohio Revised Code (ORC) 3739.

Cigarette manufacturers are required to submit certification for each brand family to be sold in the state of Ohio. This certification will validate that the cigarettes meet the new requirements before they can be offered for sale.
