FEIB ACCELERANT CANINE TEAMS

The FEIB has 3 investigators who have canine accelerant detection partners. The canines are provided by the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The teams are trained at the ATF facility in Virginia, and then must attend and successfully complete annual recertification training. The FEIB accelerant canine teams are used for SFM investigations, to assist ATF and also deploy as part of the ATF National Response Team. The FEIB canine teams perform duties for SFM FEIB cases, and do not normally do canine only assists for local agencies.
