In order for a course to be acceptable by the Ohio Division of Real Estate, the courses must be obtained from a nationally or state recognized appraisal or real estate organization, an institution of higher education, a proprietary school, a state or federal commission or agency, a provider approved by the superintendent or the real estate appraiser board, or the Appraisal Foundation or its Boards.
Below you will find links that will help you to verify that the courses that must be taken in order to obtain an Assistant Registration, Licensed Residential, Certified Residential or Certified General certificate are acceptable. To view the requirements click here.
1. View the AQB Real Property Courses list that has been approved by the Appraisal Foundation to find the courses that you are required to complete.
2. If the course that you wish to complete is online, check for the appropriate certification for the delivery mechanism through the International Distance Education Certification Center(IDECC) by clicking on Certified Courses and looking up the organization that the course is through to find the course certification. This certification is required for the course to be accepted by the state of Ohio.
3. If the course is not listed with the Appraisal Foundation, make sure that the organization is an acceptable postseconday institute by clicking Database of Accredited Postsecondary Institutes and Programs and view the accredidation list of schools of higher education through Ed.gov.
4. If the course is not approved by the AQB and is not provided by an accredited postsecondary institute, please call the Division of Real Estate at (614) 466-4100 to determine if the course has been approved by the Superintendent.
